Demands

What makes an effective demand?

First, what is a Demand?

A demand is the action we tell those in power to implement.

Systemic

The demand must change or add to a system. Multiple people’s lives should improve.

Quantitative

Usually this is a number value because often the best demands include money. Otherwise, the implementation of a demand should make a large change.

Implementer

The demand must be directed at someone or a group of people with the power to implement the demand.

Lets look at some examples of successful demands

  • "Statewide assault weapons ban"

Systemic: Overhauls system of gun ownership

Substantive: Reduces the amount of guns in the state

Target: Washington State Legislature and Governor

  • "$4.5 million for school mental health counselors in Seattle Schools"

Systemic: Increases resources students have access to across the city

Substantive: $4 million is a lot of money

    Target: Seattle City Council
